Fuses, also known as current fuses, primarily provide overload protection. They generally consist of three parts: the fuse element, the electrodes, and the bracket.
When properly placed in a circuit, the fuse will melt when the current reaches a certain level and temperature, shutting off the current and ensuring safe operation.
Invented by Edison many years ago, the fuse was used to protect expensive incandescent lamps. Over time, fuses have evolved to protect electrical equipment from overcurrent and overheating, preventing serious damage to electronic equipment caused by internal failures.
